  • Credit card statements within 3 months.
  • Council tax statements within 12 months.
  • Government letter within 12 months (HM Revenue and Customs, the Department of Work and Pensions, a Jobcentre Plus – or any other employment service, a local authority).

How to apply for a SIA licence yourself

Therethere are two ways to apply for an SIA licence by yourself or your employer. If you decide to apply for it  yourself and pay the fee yourself, you need want to submit an online application. It’s easy. You simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the online application.

Step 1. Create an SIA account.

How to apply for an SIA licence through an employer

If you decide to apply for an SIA Licence through your employer (the precondition is that the employer is an SIA-approved contractor), you don’t need to submit the online application. yYou can follow the steps.

Step 1. Create an SIA account.

Step 2. Link your SIA account with your employer’s account (ask your employer to send a request link to you)..

Step 3. Provide your documents and let your employer complete the next steps of your application. 

Step 4. After your employer submits the application, you will receive the next steps message telling what you should do next.

  • If you are in the UK, the next step message usually tells you to visit the nearby post office to complete the remaining procedures (bring your reference number, identity documents, and a passport-sized photo) or go to your employer (bring your identity documents, and a passport-sized photo).

How long does an SIA licence application take?

The processing time of the SIA licence application has not been officially guaranteed. There is no standard. It usually takes 25 working days or up to 6 weeks. However, this is an estimate. SIA licence fees and costs

It costs £184 to apply for 1 licence. If you need to apply for more than 1 licence, there is a 50% discount on the additional licences (in the same sector). So, the first one is £184, and the additional one will cost £92 each.

How to request a replacement SIA licence?

The SIA Licence will not renew itself. The validity is 3 years. So, if the SIA Licence is about to expire, you can replace it with a new one. Just apply for a renewal online.
